This class of eight cruisers was designed for fleet operations in the North Sea. They are smaller, faster and less heavily armed than the preceding Town class, and are also the first class of light cruiser to be exclusively oil-fired. The artillery armament has been downgraded, but the torpedo tubes were doubled. One Sopwith Camel plane can be carried.
