- Chal, which means Heaven, was a Klingon planet with few land masses present. It was in a binary star system which contained an incansdescent plasma bridge that joined the twin suns. The inhabitants were a unique hybrid civilization of Klingon and Romulans who were genetically engineered. This race was known as the Chalchaj 'qmey. (TOS novel: The Ashes of Eden) In the novel it is stated that Chal means heaven, which agrees with the tlhIngan Hol definition meaning "sky". (tlhIngan Hol reference: The Klingon Dictionary)
