We do not know that. It was never stated. Tosen could easily have placed his own blade down on her coffin and picked it up again. Kubo Tite has stated that while Shinigami would be able to pick up each other's Zanpakuto, they could not use its abilities. Tosen has never been shown with a different Zanpakuto.
