  • Jeter's two original Star Trek novels were generally met with negative reviews. N-Vector, on the other hand, is met with more acceptance. Warped was the only Deep Space Nine hardcover published until Unity and was met with a great deal of controversy at its release since its themes were much darker than what was seen in Star Trek at the time. This controversy faded somewhat as Deep Space Nine itself began to take on darker themes.
  • Jeter was born in Los Angeles. At California State University, he met science fiction author Philip K. Dick. The esteemed science fiction writer based a character on him – Kevin in Valis. In common with Dick, his style of writing is known for its dark themes, and paranoid and sometimes unsympathetic characters. He has also written several sequels to Bladerunner, which began life as Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. Jeter has also written tie-ins to the Star Wars franchise. He has lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, but now lives in Ecuador with his wife.

(citation needed • [ edit]) He also coined the phrase "Steampunk", which refers to retro-technology. [1] Jeter has also written tie-ins to the Star Wars franchise.
