In 3 ABY, the situation on Coruscant was becoming more destabilized by a recent conflict over the planet between Imperial loyalists and forces of the rogue Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin. The upstart was defeated, but within weeks, anti-Imperial activity surged on the capital world. A group of five criminals known as the Core Collective decided to take advantage of the rising chaos. Throughout the year, they committed a number of successful heists across Coruscan as Imperial security forces were more focused on crushing dissent rather than actual crime. In these heists, the group was able to steal credits and objects which were many credits. They made about ten million credits in total off of those early heists.

| - In 3 ABY, the situation on Coruscant was becoming more destabilized by a recent conflict over the planet between Imperial loyalists and forces of the rogue Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin. Though after the Zaarin fiasco, the members of the Collective decided it was time to pull a much bigger heist. They decided to hit the Imperial Depository—the main storage of funding and some valuable artifacts of Emperor Palpatine and the Imperial government. The total value of everything inside was around four hundred million credits. If successful, it would be the biggest heist in galactic history.
