| - This dream is associated with Gates to Oblivion. Date: D236, Y976. You are lying atop a chest in Cid's quarters, late in the night. His form is sleeping tensely on a well-appointed cot. Suddenly, Cid bolts upright, grabbing his dagger and sword. As he does you hear the tent flap falling shut and a small chuckle - "See, I told you we wouldn't have to wake him." Cid pauses briefly, and unshutters a small lantern. " 'Hawk?" "I won't betray the Empress." "Why would I want to?"

" 'Hawk?" In the low light of the lantern you see two more forms, Shadowhawk and Kydem. "We come with an offer from my Mother", begins Shadowhawk, "-and the Dragons of Wyrmland", interrupts Kydem, "that you should find very interesting." "I won't betray the Empress." "We don't want you too. All we want is for you to arrange a private meeting between the Empress and the Emperor where they can talk unencumbered by their advisors." "Why would I want to?" "Because you and the Empress have both been ill-advised by secret agents of the Tenebrous Council," begins Kydem, "-and we'd pay you the kinds of gold that only Dragons can supply", finishes Shadowhawk. Your vision briefly fades, and when it clears, you are in the Empress's tent, with Cid, Shadowhawk, and Kydem, and the latter two are pleading their case as the Dragons' Agents. She is intrigued by the idea of a private parley, and agrees to the talks, under secure conditions.
