Just before it arrived, Mary Taylor joined the girls, and then the man himself, but the girls were not happy at his arrival, his cheesy chat-up lines, or his summing-up of the Rovers as a dump. Mary interjected, postulating about making one was always initial impressions of people that didn't give them a truly fair chance and fairly dazzling the man with her loquaciousness. After a time, he found her philosophies fascinating and thought-provoking. She firmly pricked his bubble though when, much to Rana and Kate's amusement, she said that he had actually interrupted the planning of her Great Aunt Cynthia's funeral and she wouldn't be free for another time to talk as she was going to a convent next week to test her vocation as a nun. When Rana and Kate truthfully pointed out that they couldn't oblige either as they were, respectfully, married and gay, the hapless man gave up, wished Mary the best and left - leaving behind howls of laughter from the three women.
