At the end of its turn, this character can choose one adjacent Small or Medium ally that does not have Melee Attack. That ally gains Extra Attack until the end of this character’s next turn. That ally loses this ability as soon as this character is no longer adjacent (which includes being defeated).

  • In 2368, Crewman Terry of the USS Sutherland replaced several power couplings. (TNG: "Redemption II" ) In 2369, Miles O'Brien asked Lieutenant Jones to reroute a power coupling and activate an interlock servo to try to open a malfunctioning Cardassian airlock on Deep Space 9. (DS9: "Babel") In 2373, an attack by the Tak Tak disabled the secondary power couplings on USS Voyager, preventing Captain Kathryn Janeway from accessing environmental controls to distribute an antigen to the macrovirus. (VOY: "Macrocosm")
  • Power couplings were important parts of starships, vehicles, and other smaller devices. The term also referred to devices used to power objects on planets, such as the power coupling Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi flew through in their pursuit of Zam Wesell on Coruscant. Power couplings were used to hold podracer engines together and transfer power between them. Power couplings were also used as part of a melee weapon called the San-Ni staff which held together three metal rods that could be whipped around the wielder's body in combat.

Power couplings were also used as part of a melee weapon called the San-Ni staff which held together three metal rods that could be whipped around the wielder's body in combat. Kel-Mar, Modog and Dekk were prime manufacturers of power couplings. Dekk created the Dekk-6 power coupling line. "Hooking up a power coupling", while perhaps not consistent with the actual assembly of the device, was regardless used by several companions of the Jedi Exile to describe intimate relationships and presumed sexual intercourse.

(VOY: "Macrocosm") In 2374, the Borg modified some power couplings on deck 8 of the USS Voyager. Though most of the Borg modifications to the ship were stripped away, Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres felt that these power couplings worked better with the modifications, so Captain Kathryn Janeway said to leave them as they were. (VOY: "Scorpion, Part II") That same year, on stardate 51186.2, Seven of Nine reached into a primary power coupling with her bare hand during construction of the Voyager's astrometrics laboratory. She was quickly warned by Ensign Harry Kim that such action should not be taken again as they were in direct violation of Starfleet safety protocols. (VOY: "Revulsion") On many Federation ships, including Voyager, power couplings played a critical role in the discharge of phaser energy from the phaser array. Aboard Voyager in 2373, after the Kazon hijacking, the primary phaser coil was disabled by Tom Paris and the backup coil sabotaged by crewman Lon Suder. Suder rigged the computer to block the discharge from the backup phaser coil, causing it to overload when the Kazon pirates attempted to fire. Their sabotage was successful, doing massive damage to the biologicals on the bridge and otherwise disabling the ship. (VOY: "Basics, Part II") In a deleted scene from "Fight or Flight" , an away team from Enterprise NX-01 studied a schematic aboard an Axanar cargo ship and identified the power couplings on it.
