- Georgia, representing the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic, played its first game in 1962 during the Soviet Winter Spartakiad which was held in Sverdlovsk, USSR. Georgia played eight games winning their games against the Kirghiz SSR and Armenian SSR, while losing the remaining games to Leningrad, the Lithuanian SSR, Kazakh SSR, Estonian SSR and the Latvian SSR. In 2009 Georgia joined the International Ice Hockey Federation as an associate member. Georgia returned to international play in 2010 where they played two friendly games in Yerevan, Armenia against South Africa and Armenia, losing both games 8–1 and 22–1 respectively. They lost all three games and failed to qualify for the 2013 IIHF World Championship Division III tournament.
