The Volga German ASSR was establish on October 19, 1918, with Pokrovsk (renamed Engels in 1931) as the capital. The Volga German ASSR was officially dissolved on August 28, 1941, in response to the German invasion of the Soviet Union in June. The Volga Germans would then be deported to Central Asia under the orders of Joseph Stalin. Despite the death of Stalin in 1953, the Volga Germans have not returned to the Volga River. Most Volga Germans have either moved to Germany or remain in Kazakhstan. The Volga German ASSR has been spotted several times across the multiverse. The name Volgaland (German: Wolgaland) has been attributed to the region across several timelines. In most cases, the region remains an autonomous republic of the USSR.
