On January 12, an area of possible development was observed in the Eastern Atlantic, near the Cape Verde Islands. 3 days later, it developed into Tropical Depression Five. Five then began to rapidly strengthen into Tropical Storm RAM. RAM was a weak, short lived tropical storm peaking at 45 MPH before interacting with the Saharan Air Layer. RAM dissipated on January 22. Currently Akio is 100/975 On September 27, forecasters discovered that Akio formed from the remnants of Tropical Storm RAM.

  • On January 12, an area of possible development was observed in the Eastern Atlantic, near the Cape Verde Islands. 3 days later, it developed into Tropical Depression Five. Five then began to rapidly strengthen into Tropical Storm RAM. RAM was a weak, short lived tropical storm peaking at 45 MPH before interacting with the Saharan Air Layer. RAM dissipated on January 22. On August 10, a low pressure system associated with the remnants of RAM began circulation again near the Cape Verde Islands, and was immediately upgraded to Tropical Depression Thirty-One. On August 12, the storm received the name Akio. Unlike the next storm, Brick, Akio slowly strengthened. Akio reached a peak of 65 MPH on September 19 before weakening back to 60 MPH. Akio then rapidly strengthened, and became the seasons eighth Category 1 Hurricane on September 24, and was then upgraded to a Category 2 Hurricane on October 15. Currently Akio is 100/975 On September 27, forecasters discovered that Akio formed from the remnants of Tropical Storm RAM.
