When the shipyard over Joy was begun, Governor Tugawa launched a new line of Jade Worlds-designed capital ships. The Renaissance-class was designed for anti-pirate operations. Its heavy guns can overwhelm most ships of corvette size in minutes, allowing the Jade Worlds to capture valuable intelligence and material. Half of its anti-starfighter weapons are small ion cannons. It saw battle only a few weeks before the Jade Worlds declared independence. The first ship of its class, the Clan Badger vessel Renaissance, was destroyed by Black Nova. Since then, it has become a JEAF mainstay. In addition, the design came across the table of the Muir Corporation. Seeing that it fight into the Corporation's naval tactics, when the then Jade Worlds got in touch with the Corporation in regards to purchasing a carrier, the Muir made an offer that allowed them to build six of the vessels in exchange for reducing the price of a Raklem-class Assault Cruiser. The Muir representative went on to make a further deal, licensing the use of the Renaissance for the Muir Corporation's personal use, so that they could go beyond the aforementioned six. In addition, they made the offer that they would build them for the Jade Worlds at a reduced price whenever needed to free up Jade Worlds' production schedules. Both deals' terms were agreeable and so an accord was made.
