- Astrography in n-space was the locating and identifying stars and their associated systems; in hyperspace it was the measurement of the strength, direction and morphology of gravity waves, normally and historically for the purpose of charting an area of space for the safe navigation of shipping. It included the identification and locating of such things as asteroid belts, wrecks, structures, navigational beacons and system characteristics. (HH3)
- Astrography was a discipline of science that was available as a class taught at Starfleet Academy. A scientist studying astrography is commonly referred to as an astrographer. In the early 2250s, Cadet Spock led his year in the field of astrography, along with eight other disciplines. (EV comic: "Flesh of My Flesh")
