The 100 Yen is one denomination of Japanese Yen. It was originally silver from 1957 until 1966, and changed to its current composition in 1967. It is the second-highest denomination issued, following the 500 yen coin. The obverse of the coin depicts Sakura, cherry blossoms, a type of Japanese flower, with the kanji for "Japan" and "One Hundred Yen." The reverse shows the numerals "100" and the date of issue in Arabic instead of kanji.
