Heavy Cavalry are highly effective at killing cannons, because of their high hitpoints, speed, and attack. A small group of heavy cavalry can usually take out an opponent's cannons in seconds, but they fall easily to a heavy infantry or light cavalry. Note: The exception to the rule of heavy infantry versus heavy cavalry are the Lancer, Jat Lancer, Elmeti, Spahi, Cuirassier and Mahout Lancer. They kill even heavy infantry in seconds, counteracting their lack of melee resistance with significant multipliers (x3.0/4.0 and x4.0 in the case of the first three) versus all infantry (unlike the Mahout Lancer which has negative multipliers versus heavy infantry) or large area damage which eats up massed heavy infantry (such as with Spahi, Cuirassiers and Mahout Lancer).
