President Pelosi: "At this time, there will be no presidential pardon for either Bush or Cheney. We need to begin to heal the deep divide this country faces and I will leave the possibility of a pardon up to a later administration to decide." President Pelosi begins making plans for an organized, phased withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. Acting on the advice of Vice President Bayh, she will not withdraw completely but will leave several thousand to keep peace and order and to train Iraqis. Vice President Bayh and Secretary of State Biden make a diplomatic trip to Iran and meet with President Ahmadinajehad. The meeting goes well, and the U.S. group reports "guarded optimism". Iran agrees to suspend their program of enriching uranium. However, they insist that it was only for energy use and expect the United States to provide them with $10 Billion in aid to help create a better energy policy. The American public is divided on whether to accept this. Conservatives such as O'Reilly and Hannity call it "bribery" while liberals say it is a logical thing to do as long as Iran keeps their word. Rush Limbaugh is voted Keith Olbermann's "Worst Person in the World" because of Limbaugh's statement that we are "bribing ourselves out of nuclear war". "So what are you saying?" Keith Olbermann says, "Are you saying, Rush, that a nuclear war is preferable? Rush I'm-a-nuclear-war-hawk Libaugh, today's worst person in the world." Meanwhile, Pelosi's first apporval rating is out, which shows her at exactly 50 percent. (NOTE: the show "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" on MSNBC is still very much the same ATL as in OTL.) The measure is passed in both houses by a very slim margin, but only after the provision is added that Iran agrees to monthly inspections. The first inspections show that Iran is keeping its word. Pelosi/Bayh are defeated for election by McCain/Romney by 329 electoral votes to 209.
