Darth Ayulan, known as simply "The Master" during his later years, was a Pau'an Sith before the Clone Wars. He was a former apprentice of Darth Plagueis the Wise, and later the leader of the Sith Academy on Umbara. Not much is known of his past, but he was a powerful Sith in his prime, before being replaced by Darth Sidious after a duel with the former on Dathomir, meeting his brutal defeat and disavowment.

He was a former apprentice of Darth Plagueis the Wise, and later the leader of the Sith Academy on Umbara. Not much is known of his past, but he was a powerful Sith in his prime, before being replaced by Darth Sidious after a duel with the former on Dathomir, meeting his brutal defeat and disavowment. At some point in time, Ayulan would take a young Varad Zagg (who would later secceed him as the Academy master) as his apprentice. Following the few years before the Clone Wars, a Sith apprentice dueled Ayulan on Umbara, and eventually beat him. He attempted to make the young Sith his apprentice, but instead met his maker.
