abstract
  • Satan was originally an unnamed 15th century Spanish explorer who ventured into distant parts of North America in search of the Fountain of Youth. He eventually found it and drank from it, only to discover, much to his horror, that the water transformed him into a red, demonic, being. Filled with profound self-loathing, he orchestrated all sorts of vicious crimes in hopes that somebody would be able to stop and kill him for good. By the time World War II began, Satan entered into an alliance with Adolf Hitler and embarked on several schemes designed to bring the United States to its knees. He employed a number of henchmen, the most prominent being Satana, a supernatural femme fatale. He was opposed by air cadet Jim Brady, Spirit of '76, Agent 99, and Natas, a villain who looked nearly identical to Satan (his skin was yellow rather than red). While all of his opponents managed to kill him, Satan always returned to life, to his unending frustration.
