David es hijo del actor John Carradine, y hermanastro de Keith Carradine y Robert Carradine. David Carradine comenzó su carrera cinematográfica en el año 1964 en el western Taggart. A principios de los 90 dirigió, protagonizó y produjo una secuela de la serie de televisión Kung Fu original. En 2009 se estrenó en España la película "El gran Stan", en la que David hace el papel de cruel mestro de artes marciales del protagonista, recordando a su étapa en la serie Kung Fu.
