The Ford Powermaster series were a line of tractors started by the Ford Motor Company in 1957 in conjunction with the smaller Workmaster series. They replaced the 800 and 900 series tractors with the 801 and 901 series. The Powermaster series tractors were similar to their earlier cousins, with minor improvements to horsepower and a new power steering option, among other small changes. The Workmaster and Powermaster series were the last "gray and red" tractors Ford produced, and the last ones to feature the "cyclops" front medallion. The line ended in 1962.

  • The Ford Powermaster series were a line of tractors started by the Ford Motor Company in 1957 in conjunction with the smaller Workmaster series. The Powermaster series consisted of the following models: * 811, 911 - Select-O-Speed transmission, no PTO * 821, 921 - Four speed transmission, no PTO or 3 point lift * 831, 931 - Four speed transmission, no PTO * 841, 941- Four speed transmission with PTO and 3 point lift * 851, 951 - Five speed transmission with 3 point lift and non-live PTO * 861, 961 - Five speed transmission with 3 point lift and live PTO * 871, 971 - Select-O-Speed transmission with single speed PTO and 3 point lift * 881, 981 - Select-O-Speed transmission with dual and ground speed PTO and 3 point lift The 801 models were utility tractors, whereas the 901 models were row-crop variants. The 901 tractors came from the factory with either a tricycle or wide front. Several models of the 801 and 901 have been equipped with the aftermarket Sherman auxiliary transmission. A key cosmetic difference and one of the easiest ways to visually identify the Powermaster series compared to the Workmaster series and earlier Ford tractor offerings is the red "egg crate" grille, a stylistic departure from previous models. These tractors also feature a red stripe down the top center of the hood, further distinguishing the Powermaster series from earlier Ford designs. The Powermaster series featured a 172 cubic inch 4-cylinder flat-head "red tiger" gasoline or diesel engine designed by Ford. This incarnation of the "red tiger" engine produced 62.6 horsepower (41.44 at the drawbar) in the gasoline variant.
