The Alpha Lanterns take down the Green Lanterns by draining their rings. The Guardians of the Universe monitor the situation, ominously plotting toward their own goals. The Alpha Lanterns close in on John Stewart and Guy Gardner and fire on them but then find out they were chasing constructs made as a diversion. Beneath Oa, John finally wakes up and punches Guy in the jaw. Guy and John explore the tunnels under Oa and see a large quantity of power rings which should be looking for new recruits but they seem to just be buzzing around in the same spot. Upon further examination, they find some of the Guardians' secret projects and abandoned experiments. John gets the idea to use the Guardians' old mistakes to their own advantage. Beneath Oa, John finally wakes up and punches Guy in the jaw. Guy and John explore the tunnels under Oa and see a large quantity of power rings which should be looking for new recruits but they seem to just be buzzing around in the same spot. Upon further examination, they find some of the Guardians' secret projects and abandoned experiments. John gets the idea to use the Guardians' old mistakes to their own advantage. The Alphas aggressively interrogate, almost to the point of torture, the GLs who helped Guy and John escape custody. Guy and John arrive with a small army created of the remnants of the Psions, Manhunters, and prototype Alpha Lanterns chanting "NO ALPHA LANTERN ESCAPES THE MANHUNTERS". The Alpha Lanterns battle the cyborg army and defeat them slowly, their numbers being the only hindrance to them. All the pieces of the cyborgs that have fallen begin to coalesce together and form a monstrous abomination.
