- The Holy or Holy Beast (聖獣, Seijū) is a race of demons based on supernatural creatures that are revered as sacred animals associated with or mount of the gods. In the series, they are of the "Light" alignment, although they may swing between being of "Law" or "Neutral". This race usually coexists with the Avatar / Godly Beast race in most installments. In Devil Survivor, the Holy race is absent and many of its demons were transferred to Avatar.
- One of the key concepts of Judaism is the separation of the holy from the regular. The idea of separating one day of the week, Shabbat, from the rest, of abstaining from work, and doing special activities may have originated with the Jews. The Hebrew word for holy is "kadosh" or "קדוש".

- Holy is basically when something is all glowy and religious and stuff, or has the same amount of holes as Swiss cheese. Holiness can be described as a state of extreme boredom, usually because you've spent too much time praying to a non-existent being. It is also suggested that you become holy after youve been shot as much as 50 Cent.

- For resistance purposes, Holy and Arcane count as single resistance, to compensate for very few monsters being able to use Holy attacks. One such monster is Raiziel. All Holy skills also destroy corpses of slain enemies (even if they do not land a Critical Hit), being the only damage type with guaranteed corpse destruction. This property, however, is suppressed if there are reanimator monsters nearby. Holy skills cause the target to vanish in the flash of bright light, leaving nothing behind as if they were vaporized completely.
- Holy (ホーリー Hōrī) is a Marine organization that was formed shortly after former Marine Admiral Tsuiho was forced to resign from his position, giving the World Government an ultimatum, either allow him to rule over a Marine faction, or go against the World Government, and lose one of their most valuable assets, to which the World Government responded with the former. Holy follows the World Government's more tyrannical side, doing whatever they must do to ensure peace for the world, even it means eradicating thousands of innocent people, making them often be discriminated by Marine forces.

- A holy weapon is imbued with holy power. This power makes the weapon good-aligned and thus bypasses the corresponding damage reduction. It deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against all of evil alignment. It bestows one negative level on any evil creature attempting to wield it. The negative level remains as long as the weapon is in hand and disappears when the weapon is no longer wielded. This negative level never results in actual level loss, but it cannot be overcome in any way (including restoration spells) while the weapon is wielded. Bows, crossbows, and slings so crafted bestow the holy power upon their ammunition.
