Unlike most PGM models, it is based on the Ibanez Iceman shape and has some specifications which are unusual for the PGM series. For example the set-in 22-fret neck, dual-humbucker pickup configuration and the mahogany body. It does feature Paul Gilbert's signature painted F-holes. The PGM600 was introduced along with another odd-shaped PGM, the PGM700. Both were available for a limited time in Japan only.
