Tibetites is a ceratitid ammonite from the upper Triassic of the Himalaya and type for the Tibetitidae. The shell of Tibetites is compressed with the whorl section higher than wide and involute with only the outer whorl clearly exposed. Sides are covered with thick, close spaced, flexious (wavy) ribs. The venter is narrow, with two rows of clavi (blade-like tubercles) on either side, the inner bordering a mid-ventral furrow. Anatibetites is similar, expect that its venter is flat and without clavi. Paratibetites is similar in the earliest stage but goes through changes during growth.
