To snark is to complain, often in a witty or sarcastic manner. In the PPC, we enjoy snarking at badfic, and Mary Sues make us especially snarky (that is, inclined to snark). Therefore, snark is an expected element of PPC missions. The origin of the word appears to be an imitation of the Low German snarken, North Frisian snarke, and/or Swedish snarka, meaning "to snort." It may or may not have anything to do with Lewis Carroll's "The Hunting of the Snark." Probably not.

  • Snarklish is the primary language of the Snarks which mostly consists of belching and flatulence, although Slippery Pete understands it quite well; their written alphabet bears a resemblence to a fusion of Russian & Swahilli and something in between. Some are known to speak english, but in a rough accent.
  • The Snark, also known as the Squeak Grenade, is an enemy which doubles as a biological weapon. It can be found in Snark Mines, and will attack the player when these are tripped. However, the nests can be picked up and snarks can be used as weapons that can be thrown towards enemies.
  • Snarks sind Fabelwesen aus den Geschichten und Fabeln aus Westeros. Sie leben wie auch Grumkins Jenseits der Mauer und werden von Ammen benutzt, um ihren Kindern das Fürchten zu lehren.

  • The basis of the Snark was seen in Valve's debut title, Half-Life, where these creatures were used as little attackers against aliens. Their appearance in Team Fortress Classic may have been due to the NeoTF creator being a fan of the game. Regardless, these little entities can scurry along the ground, attacking only enemies of the opposite team and doing damage in small doses. It is unknown whether a Snark can tell the difference between a Spy and a teammate, but many people believe they can't.
  • Snarks were blue and purple scaled fish that appeared throughout Alice's journey in Wonderland and the counterpart of Fire Snarks.
  • Once regarded as a myth by the more sceptical members of Unggoy society, the Snark (Arctotherops oberon) is a creature native to Balaho, and one of the few organisms that has done well in the catastrophic climate change the planet had undergone over the past hundred thousand years. Holding a special place in unggoy mythology as a demon, original Unggoy culture treated it as a semi-spiritual demonic figure. Since the planet's incorporation into the Covenant, Snarks have become renown among the alien conglomerate community as one of the fiercest predators in the galaxy, after the Jabberwock.
  • Snark was a Japanese smuggler and gangster. As captain of the Kamikaze Maru, he smuggled various illegal products across the Sea of Japan. He was an associate of Mystery and Faye Maskelyne, the latter of whom he actually won in a card game in Taipei and for two weeks spent time teaching the women which officials could be bribed to help their search for Kaspar in exchange for card tricks. The group went their seperate ways as Snark took passage on a steam packet back to the mainland while the crew went on to Japan. Jones and his associates headed for Shanghai.
