Emma Godfrey (1 April 1887 — 9 July 1997) was a verified American supercentenarian. She was born on a farm in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, to parents Clarkson and Ellen Godfrey. She had seven siblings. Godfrey worked as a teacher before taking care of her invalided mother. This was also the reason she didn't get married to the man she was in love with. She moved to a nursing home at age 100. She was very active in church. Beside teaching, she was also a seamstress for children in need of clothes. Until she was 109, she was able to play bowling.

On her 110th birthday, she was in good spirits and said that she doesn't have any orries. She was in a wheelchair and had poor eyesighth and hearing. Her activities included playing bingo, television and attending adult-classes. Her favourite president was Franklin D. Roosevelt. Godfrey's advices about life was to eat healthy, read the Bible and focus on the positive things. Godfrey died in Cass County, Iowa, on 9 July 1997, at the age of 110 years, 99 days.
