The Minie Rifle (or as it was called in France the Minié Rifle and in Britain the Pattern 1851 Minie Rifle) was a 1851, percussion lock rifle. It was the first purpose built rifle for the Minie Ball, a new type of ammunition that replaced the musket ball. The Minie Rifle is also commonly classed as a Musket.
