  • Kingazu Camp is a safari camp in the Luangwa River Valley of Zambia. Special Agent Pendergast and his wife Helen visited the camp twelve years before the events of Fever Dream. The Pendergasts came to deal with a man-eating lion who had killed a German tourist. They tracked the lion, and in the ensuing melee Helen Pendergast was killed. Years later, Pendergast came to believe that his wife's death was a murder and not a tragic accident. He returned to Zambia and to Kingazu Camp but found that nobody from twelve years earlier was still employed there. Pendergast and Vincent D'Agosta tracked down the former camp manager Gordon Wisley and confirmed Pendergast's suspicions, that his wife's death had been orchestrated by two men with a trained lion.
