Hi all, As I'm sure you are aware by now, Wikia is making a new skin called Oasis [1]. It will replace Monaco. A handy blog has been created by Yyp at Bleach Wiki. This has links to all the different information at the moment, including some discussion too. The time for us to decide whether to accept this skin has come. I want all of your thoughts here, and if you think MLNW should move out too. * Firstly, please vote on the two polls on the mainpage if you have not done so already. * Secondly, please vote here: * Finally, please express your views on this page. Thanks all,

 • Hi all, As I'm sure you are aware by now, Wikia is making a new skin called Oasis [1]. Thanks all, * I personally prefer Monaco, but I don't see we have a choice of keeping it. I also want to stay here, because Wikia staff have been (reasonably) good. It also means we keep all of our pages, without the hassle of clearing up and moving (anyone who's moved house knows how this feels!). I'll do my best to make the transaction as smooth as possible for MLNW, and try and keep the colo(u)r scheme as best as possible. Anybody have any opinions, please write! -- * As i see it wikia gets worser and worser. I suggest to stay until november and move to ajr's host. If ajr's host don't work stable we should move to a big one. I prefer shoutwiki.-- 17:18, October 1, 2010 (UTC) * One thing; "Ajraddatz's host" is incorrect. If we do move there, the site will /not/ be owned by me. Just saying ;) 19:59, October 1, 2010 (UTC) * Also, the current free hosting that that is being developed on will not be what the site runs on should we move. Free hosting is great for development, but for running a wiki we would need something more. Paid hosting is an option, but this will need to be looked into more. In terms of going by ourselves or with another wikifarm, I'm not sure. ShoutWiki would be the most reliable other choice. 20:02, October 1, 2010 (UTC) * Can we change the Oasis to have the same color fundamentals as our skin?-- 22:33, October 1, 2010 (UTC) * Yes. 22:40, October 1, 2010 (UTC) * I'm staying on Wikia no matter what, but I won't be active here when the new skin comes out, so my vote doesn't really count. SSG @ ← Rate the Main Page! 00:08, October 2, 2010 (UTC) * When you search MLN Wiki on google our site is the 1st thing that comes up! Will that happen if we move to others? being 1st on google (even if you just search My LEGO Network) is what brings users in! And look at all who are leaving on the polls: My English Wiki-- 15:56, October 2, 2010 (UTC) * Yeah, that's why I'm staying on Wikia. I mean seriously, the only bad thing I see in the new skin is that it doesn't allow much room for customization, but overall, I think it looks kind of decent. I've already customized HTML & CSS Wiki, and it's not as bad as I expected it would be. SSgtGriffin 17:18, October 2, 2010 (UTC) * Yes and our wikis Monaco isn't that advanced when you look at HTML or airhogs wiki so I think we can adapt to the new skin-- 17:24, October 2, 2010 (UTC) * I agree, it isn't that bad. If we were to move, it would be for something more than the skin, imo. Besides, we really don't need to be customised that much. 20:54, October 2, 2010 (UTC) * right! and if we move we have a wiki look - I like the new skin better than that for customization-- 14:58, October 3, 2010 (UTC) Wait.... we were already going to move before this, and now instead of wanting to move more you decide to stay here? I mean that's weird. You do know how many wikis are moving, right? clik here and here 00:10, October 4, 2010 (UTC) We most likely will be moving, but the new site is under major development at the moment, and won't be ready until... April, at the earliest. 01:05, October 4, 2010 (UTC) Better than never. 01:08, October 4, 2010 (UTC) * Just so you guys know, after the move, I will no longer be here. SSgtGriffin 02:40, October 4, 2010 (UTC) * I will say it again. Whether or not the MLNW moves I will still be here at Wikia. I think that Wikia does a good job at running a multi-wiki site and that the controversy over the new skin is way overblown. Is the new skin perfect? I doubt it. But I don't think it is half as bad as some are making it out to be. Remember we receive a managed wiki for free. Wikia has to make money somehow, and obviously they think this skin will do that. 16:05, October 4, 2010 (UTC) * What are the advantages to us in shoutwiki and wikii? Just saying they are recommended by others does not give them an advantage. What features do they have that would improve the MLN wiki? 16:15, October 4, 2010 (UTC) * exactly! and who like division. Why are we moving again? It is perfect here! skin or even if the skin was, well heak, just black! the wiki is still perfect and I'm staying here!-- 00:29, October 5, 2010 (UTC) * we could have extensions enabled which are really useful. We'll get alot advantage, when we are moving to our own host.-- 08:40, October 9, 2010 (UTC) * Which extensions would be useful? And running your own is more work than you seem to think it is. And what happens when everyone who can run a wiki leaves? And, no offense to anyone here, but I trust the Wikia staff more than I trust any individual user. 14:40, October 9, 2010 (UTC) * Only ten more days of Monaco... ...Our Monaco is awesome and you should see Air Hogs wiki's in fire fox! *sniff* :( -- 16:02, October 10, 2010 (UTC) * * * (@$*&(@$&$*(#&(*&$*(%&$(*&*($%&$&*($)_*$()&**$(#)*%()&%$()&%)($*^(*&@#(*#&(&$!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE NEW LOOK SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-- 02:50, October 21, 2010 (UTC) * I agree with Joeman. TEN MORE DAYS? Oh my. 04:34, October 21, 2010 (UTC) * I agree with Joeman too, but I have gotten use to the new look and I think it would be stupid to move just because of a skin. 22:32, October 26, 2010 (UTC) * the new skin is good but navigation is so bad that it it bad. We should make a complaint to wikia with as many sigs from wikis as we can get to keep Monaco. 01:26, October 27, 2010 (UTC) like a patition. 01:26, October 27, 2010 (UTC) * Does anyone know how to edit it?-- 22:18, October 27, 2010 (UTC) * Check out HTML & CSS Wiki's wikia.css. I've modded it pretty well. SSgtGriffin 23:02, October 27, 2010 (UTC) * Seen it! Really good! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joeman200 (talk • contribs) Please sign posts with ~~~~! * I actually like the new skin now because I have gotten so used to it. 20:02, October 31, 2010 (UTC) * I hate to say it, but I think I don't like Monaco anymore. Well, H&C Wiki has been completely redesigned once again. SSgtGriffin 00:11, November 1, 2010 (UTC) * I agree with SSgtGriffin. 16:52, November 1, 2010 (UTC) * Has MLNW's default skin been changed to monobook? SSgtGriffin 22:43, November 1, 2010 (UTC) * No, it's still Monaco. When we have to switch, we will use Oasis - however I may open a vote between Monobook and Oasis. 18:46, November 2, 2010 (UTC) * you /can't/ use monobook as default skin-- 19:13, November 2, 2010 (UTC) * Moving? What's the point?--- 17:52, November 3, 2010 (UTC) * I'm sorry but this wiki is to hard to edit!!! I can't get around, if I make it to a page I can nav it! I'm simi-inactive now. Some one email me when we move. waoops you can't email! Well leave me a message when we move. -- 15:45, November 14, 2010 (UTC) * ok there has got to be a place that is just as good as here, but has better skin, right? Then we must find it. I agree with ZER0-0. I still don't get why everybody is saying "I think it's kind of dumb to move because of a skin". After all, everybody seemed fine with the fact that we were planning to move before the new skin, so I don't see why everybody wants to stay now, myself seeing Oasis as a stimulant to move. 21:02, November 14, 2010 (UTC) Not everyone was fine with the move before or after the new skin. 00:27, November 15, 2010 (UTC) I know not everyone but it just seems kind of strange, because it seems less people want to move now than they did before. No offense, Nitecrew. 00:52, November 15, 2010 (UTC) None taken. :) 17:29, November 15, 2010 (UTC) * Why move? If I've gotten used to the new skin can't we all. It just seems dumb to move because of a skin. 01:22, November 15, 2010 (UTC) the problem is you are the only one who likes the new skin. There must be a place with something the same as Monaco, and some of us (including me) refuse to get used to it be cause monaco was 999999999999999999999999999999999 times better at every thing. Look. Monaco > new skin Navagation. Monaco > new skin Overall Monaco > new skin what else do I have to say? yes but we can still try and also if you look up anything about mln we actually come up first in a few search engines. We dont want to loose that do we? File:Lego aquaman13sig.pngSTORE (talk) MLN 02:07, November 15, 2010 (UTC) well if we inport all of our pages the new one would have priority over this one because it's active. And Check this out: User:ZER0-0/ok this proves my point Kristof, how many times must I say this, this wiki was already planning to move before the new skin, and you were fine with it. We are still trying to move to improve this wiki, so technically we are not moving because of the skin, we are moving because it has already been decided before the skin came out. I see the skin as an even greater reason to move. We could get used to the skin, but it does not matter, because we were already going to move before the skin, and please stop contradicting yourself, because you didn't mind the aspect of us moving. I feel that SSgtGriffin has given you some of the ideas you have. I could get used to this myslf, but I ask tat you listen to my reasoning. 03:17, November 15, 2010 (UTC) you hit it right of the money. the move is/was not only due the new skin. We want/wanted to move, because of the selfhosted wiki gives us more possibility to improve the wiki (e.g. with own user groups, extensions that can be enabled,...). But now there is a problem. It seems like LEGO wants to replace MLN with LEGO octopus, which is something like Facebook mixed with Clubpages. This isn't confirmed but realistic.-- 16:57, November 15, 2010 (UTC) (Re-added, there must have been an editing conflict. I was unaware this paragraph was removed when I submitted my change 20:45, November 15, 2010 (UTC)) If you guys want to move, it's fine. It's just that I like the new skin and I would prefer it if the wiki did not move. It would just make everything much more complicated. And my influence over Kristof is not that big of an issue. All I said was that I like the new skin better than Monaco and that you should adapt to the new skin because it's already here, so make do, improve it, use it to your advantage, and don't let it be the downfall of the wiki. SSgtGriffin 20:09, November 15, 2010 (UTC) I understand your reasoning, and I really don't care about the skin, but I am still trying to get you guys to understand, we were going to move before the skin, so us moving really doesn't have anything to do with the skin. AS ALREADY SAID BEFORE, we are still moving as far as I know, so it won't matter. Long before there was even such a thing as Oasis in Wikia's extra security test labs, we were already planning to move. I am still trying to get you to remember stuff that happened before the skin, and I was still waiting to wake up one day and find myself on this "mediawiki.pcriot" or whatever this place is called. And moving won't be the downfall either, we don't have to move to shoutwiki. We need to finish what was started before, instead of screwing it because of this new skin, which, as I said before(I hope you see a pattern here), should make you want to leave Wikia even more. As I said before, we are not moving because of the skin, we are moving because Ajr has worked with the active admins and b-crats and decided to move to improve this wiki. I could truthfully say that staying is the downfall. 20:34, November 15, 2010 (UTC) I never wanted to move even before the new skin! 20:53, November 15, 2010 (UTC) Ok, so you didn't. Neithr did I at first, but with this skin, I would. But for all of you who are saying "I think it's dumb to move because of a skin", I hope I can get this straight: FORGET ABOUT THE NEW SKIN!!!! US MOVING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE NEW SKIN!!!! YOU'RE MAKING THIS A BIG DEAL FOR NOTHING!!!(no offense) (BTW, I'm not angry, but I hope all caps might help you understand). If you would just listen to reason (Kristof, I think you are actually listening now), this could all go fine and smooth. I beg of you, read what I am saying and think about it for a few seconds. Deal? 21:02, November 15, 2010 (UTC) if what mln might turn into is right, then we need to do something. Yeah. After all, all we would ever need is another Facebook-wannabe! (with the new skin, we could make a great wiki for lego.octopus. After all, the new skin reminds people of Facebook.) 03:15, November 16, 2010 (UTC)
