The history of the Elemental Eye is linked with that of the city of Dalaran. Back in the times of the kingdom of Arathi, the great city state of Dalaran was founded. Dalaran became a great centre of arcane knowledge and study, and the original Magocrats became what is now known as the ruling council of the Kirin Tor. The Kirin Tor issued a great decree to further the boundaries of magical understanding, and some magocrats began to form their own ‘magic orders’, dedicated to carrying out the wishes of the council. One of those early groups became known as ‘The Order of the Elemental Eye’. • The history of the Elemental Eye is linked with that of the city of Dalaran. Over time the order of the elemental eye became one of the great institutions of wizardry and learning in old Dalaran; its members searched out the far reaches of Azeroth in a bid to increase knowledge of the arcane. The order even had its own regiments of city guards, and a seat on the ruling council. Some years later during the third war,the Scourge spread across Azeroth like a plague; under the leadership of Arthas. The seers of the order of the elemental eye sent spies out to learn of Arthas’ plans. However word arrived back late and Arthas and the scourge were already at the gates of Dalaran. At the last hour it was learned that Arthas was after a spellbook. Quickly the Seers gave word that their spellbook be hidden; and an envoy was sent to inform Dalaran’s leaders. The seers envoy, it would seem, failed to make it; most likely killed on route. The spellbook of medivh was captured, and with it Archimonde the defiler was summoned back into the world. Much was lost back then. Old Dalaran fell; laid waste by its enemies. And the order of the elemental eye also fell, its followers died defending the city. File:Tome Eeye.jpgSome months ago now, a group of wizards and researchers were excavating some of the ruins at Dalaran. In a small anti chamber below the ruins of a large building, researchers discovered a number of Dalaran texts. It seems part of a library was discovered, and although researchers found many of the books familiar, one in particular, was not. The tome in question was entitled ‘The Order of The Elemental Eye’; it was bound in leather, and on its front, a strange design. The design consisted of a central eye symbol, surrounded by two concentric circles. The concentric circles were spaced apart, with text between them, running in a circle around the centre; to the top was written ‘Light’, followed by ‘Nature’, then ‘Fire’, ‘Shadow’, ‘Arcane’, and finally ‘Frost’. In this way Light was opposite Shadow, and Fire was opposite Frost, and so on. The whole design finished in gold leaf. “What we have here is a primary work of one of the magic orders of Dalaran, and old too; possibly from the early days.” One of the wizards explained to his colleagues. “It might take us years to understand its secrets”, said another. “Many of those old works were written in code, so as not to fall into the wrong hands”, he added. Inspired by the book, the wizards Profion and Jayier went on to form ‘Elemental Eye’, a revival of the old order.
