Major (Sir) Percy Coleman Simmons (5 March 1875 - 18 September 1939) was a solicitor and local politician. The son of Henry John Simmons, a tailor and Fanny née Hart. Admitted a solicitor in 1906, he formed a partnership with his brother Edward Coleman Simmons as Simmons & Simmons of Threadneedle Street. He was adopted by the Conservative Party as their candidate at Tower Hamlets, St George for the General Election of January 1910 but was defeated by 434 votes. When a by-election was held in the same constituency in March of the same year he was again defeated, this time by 509 votes.

During the First World War he served in the Royal Flying Corps and reached the rank of major. He was a Municipal Reform Party member of the London County Council from 1907-38. From 1907-10 he represented Tower Hamlets, St George from 1910-19 he was an alderman and from 1919-38 sat as a representative for the City of London. He was Chairman of the LCC for 1921-22. He was Chief Whip for the Municipal Reformers from 1914–21. On various LCC committees. In 1922 he was created a Knight Commander of the Victorian Order. Entry in Who’s Who A picture here [1]
