The Remnant War was a series of conflicts and battles that occurred in the Milky Way Galaxy between March 3, 2553, immediately after the Human-Covenant War, and 22 October 2565. The war was fought between the allied Alliance of Sangheili Clans, Unified Earth Government and Yanme'e Conglomeration on one side, and the collection of Covenant successor states on the other, the latter of which were hostile to both external factions and each other. Following the formation of the Unified Coalition of Governments in 2555 and the involvement of the Ve'nek Dominion, Antarean Commonwealth and Royal Allegiance on the side of the allies, tipping the balance of the war against the warring and separated Covenant factions. The war was fought between the allied Alliance of Sangheili Clans, Unified Earth Government and Yanme'e Conglomeration on one side, and the collection of Covenant successor states on the other, the latter of which were hostile to both external factions and each other. Following the formation of the Unified Coalition of Governments in 2555 and the involvement of the Ve'nek Dominion, Antarean Commonwealth and Royal Allegiance on the side of the allies, tipping the balance of the war against the warring and separated Covenant factions. This changed again in September 2557, when the Prophet of Obedience unified the Covenant into the Covenant Remnant at the Bagheera 5 incident. Despite the Covenant's reunification, the combined forces of the nations combating it were overwhelming, and the Remnant steadily saw its territory and fighting forces pushed back into the core of its holdings. The war was finally concluded at the Battle of Glorious Salvation from August to October 2565, which resulted in the destruction of most of the Remnant's surviving military and its leadership.
