The PlayStation TV (officially abbreviated PS TV and also referred to as the PlayStation Vita TV or PS Vita TV) is a microconsole manufactured and marketed by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was a non-portable variant of the PlayStation Vita. The PlayStation TV was intended by Sony CEO Andrew House to penetrate the Chinese gaming market. It was released in Japan on November 14, 2013, and later to China, Hong Kong, and five other southeast Asian countries on January 16, 2014. It was later announced for an American and European release during E3 2014, as well as their dates confirmed at Gamescom that same year. They were later released to those locations on October 14 and November 14 of 2014, respectively. Consoles stopped shipping in Japan on February 28, 2016.
