As surprising as Alucard's first two victories were, it was well-known before this match ever began that he had no chance of winning. What he did have a chance of doing however, was proving that Cloud was still beatable. It could be argued that Mario had no chance against the FF7 lead after the first two rounds, but thanks to a surprising performance by Alucard in this match, Cloud was quickly brought down to earth. Not only did Alucard prevent Cloud from scoring a killing similar to his first two matches, but Cloud's prediction percentage for someone preparing to go up against the king of all video games was downright atrocious. Honestly, 53.53%? This means that almost half of bracketmakers thought that either Alucard, Tails, Duke Nukem, Iori Yagami, Pikachu, PaRappa the Rapper, or Fox wo

That's pathetic, and even though 2002's stats are screwed up, there is no way that nearly half of the same group would consider any of those seven characters capable of beating Mario. We were in a similar position for Mario/Cloud than we were for Mega Man/Sephiroth after Alucard's last stand. We had no clue who would win, despite how well Cloud performed in the first two rounds. The best part was that we only had to wait a week to find out. • Previous Match • Next Match
