| - __NOWYSIWYG__ I would like to propose yet another fanon category, this time inspired by not what people want to read so much, but more for ease within the categories (although this can benefit both). Now, I periodically go through the in order to find and mark the inactive and discontinued fanons as such. This can be a fairly time-consuming process, and as I don't always remember the one-shots and completed stories listed, I end up having to check all the pages. We already have a template for the three other 'status's a fanon can have; inactive, discontinued, and complete (the only ones that we don't being a one-shot template - though we have a cat for that - and an 'ongoing' template), and it would make it easier for people to navigate and find fanons that are currently in production as, currently, one does have to go through the story pages cat, and that is, like I said, riddled with one-shots and completed stories. I know that sometimes I would rather read a story where I have the excitement and suspense of waiting for a new chapter. I'm also more inclined to read it when there isn't just a mass of chapters to go through. Thoughts, comments? 09:33, March 21, 2014 (UTC) I don't really see the purpose of that. If a fanon is not discontinued, people can assume that it is still ongoing. It's not a waterproof system, but it's not that bad if some fanons that should've been marked discontinued are not. Also, this wouldn't fix anything, it would just revert the problem: now we have to check whether or not a story is discontinued, whereas with the new category you'd have to check whether or not the fanon is still ongoing. You're essentially doing the same, just under another name. 10:28, March 21, 2014 (UTC) Yes, it would be essentially doing the same, but it would save a considerable amount of time if they were all categorised under the one roof. At the moment, a user has to check all of the stories in the 'story pages cat', including the completed stories and one-shots - stories that will never be classed as discontinued. Not having a discontinued cat doesn't necessarily mean it is still ongoing. 10:47, March 21, 2014 (UTC) "Not having a discontinued cat doesn't necessarily mean it is still ongoing." As I pointed out above, having the "ongoing" category doesn't necessarily mean that it is still ongoing, because that too has to be checked regularly for progress to see whether or not the category still applies. As such, the system wouldn't change anything, just add one more category to the extensive list that authors now already regularly forget to add. 10:56, March 21, 2014 (UTC)
