  • Originally drafted by the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft, Kryskow played in Chicago for parts of two seasons. Left exposed for the 1974 NHL Expansion Draft, he was claimed by the Washington Capitals. After playing only 51 games for the Capitals, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings. He would also play for the Atlanta Flames. He starred with his hometown Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League for two years (1969-70 & 1970-71). After scoring 42 goals in 1970-71 he was selected 26th overall by the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft. He spent his first pro season gaining valuable experience with the Dallas Black Hawks of the Central Hockey League. In 1972-73 he was a top scorer for Dallas and received an eleven-game look in Chicago. Kryskow was elevated to the NHL on a full time basis in 1973-74. He scored just 19 points but was a solid checker in coach Billy Reay's disciplined system. Chicago lost Kryskow to the expansion Washington Capitals in the 1974 NHL Expansion Draft. The young forward struggled with the adjustment from one of the league's well-organized clubs to a young team in disarray most nights. After playing 51 games with Washington, Kryskow was sent to the Detroit Red Wings for veteran forward Jack Lynch. Another trade sent him to the Atlanta Flames and he registered a career-best 40 points in 1975-76. Kryskow finished his professional hockey career in the World Hockey Association playing for the Calgary Cowboys and Winnipeg Jets.
