The story itself continues the tale of Laera Reyolé and Silas Dan'kre as they attempt to assert themselves within the "modern" galaxy after having realized that everything they once knew, including the Republic Marines, has faded into near obscurity. The narrative itself reverts to the standard third-person model, however it does follow several distinct points of view.

Text
| - For former Marine officers Laera Reyolé and Silas Dan'kre, two beings catapulted into a future they have not yet begun to understand, the adventure has only just begun. In the wake of the resolution of the brief conflict that engulfed the Sa'ari people, they have taken up the offer of to ferry them from T'lessia to , where they hope to gain their bearings and move forward.
Along with the former HK-47, the two companions attempt to learn what they can about what they have missed over the last four thousand years. Their search for answers—and a way to make a living in the modern galaxy—leads them to unexpected friends, foes, and complications, as well as the return to a location that the formerly-deceased Laera will find hauntingly familiar.
