When King Ian I took on the throne, he started on a large construction project to extend the existing palace by one third and in 2005 it was complete. After his abdication on 2007, King Ian I and his wife Queen Sharon moved into the other side of the Palace, The Statly Quaters. In 2006, Crown Princess Robyn moved out of the Palace to a small cottage on the outscirts of the capital.
