It began a series of novels which include The Forest House, Lady of Avalon, Priestess Of Avalon, all told from the point of view of the women in Arthur's life. Some of the key reimagined differences are: * Vivianne, Morgaine, and Nimue are all priestessess of the Isle of Avalon. "Merlin" is a title given to the chief druid of their religion, a title held originally by Talisien. * Uther Pendragon does not magically impersonate Gorlois, but simply wears the other man's armor to sneak into his castle. * Arthur and Morgaine comit inscest unknowingly, while masked and engaging an a ritualistic 'sacred marriage.' * Lancelot is apparently bisexual, and some of his love for Gwynhwfar might be a result of his repressed love for Arthur.
