The Fort Wayne Safari was officially announced in 2000 as an expansion team in the Indoor Professional Football League (IPFL) and based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. They were to join the league in 2002, and to play their home games at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Official team colors were going to be black, khaki tan, hunter green, and orange.
