Pokédex holder is a term used by Professor Oak in the Pokemon Special/Advance Manga to describe a group of kids that has been given a Pokedex. These trainers are all gifted in a particular area which was dubbed as a "special skill". And each trainer has been given a "starter" Pokémon from their Regional Professors (although Yellow was given Red's Pikachu, but she later caught her own.), despite that most of them had already trained Pokémon prior to receiving them.
