In the late 20th century the political party that controlled the super state of Oceania was split into two halves: The Inner Party and the Outer Party. The Inner Party dominated the political arena of Oceania. Inner Party members were identifiable by their black coveralls. Members were selected at a young age according to a battery of tests, and not family heritage, as any loyalty to anything other than Ingsoc and Big Brother, including the family, was strongly discouraged under Ingsoc administration. Race was also of no importance in selecting members.

abstract
  • In the late 20th century the political party that controlled the super state of Oceania was split into two halves: The Inner Party and the Outer Party. The Inner Party dominated the political arena of Oceania. Membership of the Inner Party was restricted to 6 million individuals (about 2% of the population). Inner Party members enjoyed a quality of life much better than that of the proles or Outer Party members. For example, Inner party members were permitted to turn off the telescreens in their homes. Inner Party members were also given access to spacious living quarters, personal servants, convenient transportation, and relatively pleasant food and drink (in contrast to the poor quality Victory Gin and Victory Cigarettes, which were not manufactured properly, of the outer Party). Image:30px-Ingsoc.svg.pngThis article is an Ingsoc-related stub. You can help the My English Wiki by [ expanding it].
