Atlantis: The Lost Empire is the first disney movie to earn a PG rating since The Black Cauldron (1985). It was directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise. (who were the directors of Beauty and the Beast and The Hunchback of Notre Dame). Two years later, the movie was followed by it's straight-to-video sequel Atlantis: Milo's Return (2003).
