In the Smurf Village, Smurfette, Sassette, and Slouchy are watching Snappy attempting a tight rope act between two Smurf houses. Sassette tells Snappy to be careful, but Snappy just says it's like falling off a log. Of course, Snappy has to make it look like he was losing his balance on the line, but instead he grabs it with his hand. Smurfette isn't very impressed by what Snappy is doing, but then he has to go beyond that by spinning himself around on the wire a few times and then launching himself in the air.

  • In the Smurf Village, Smurfette, Sassette, and Slouchy are watching Snappy attempting a tight rope act between two Smurf houses. At the same time, Greedy greets Papa Smurf with a cake that he made with pooka-nut icing that he wants the village leader to taste, when Snappy comes down for a landing right on top of them, splattering the cake. Greedy is upset with Snappy because now he needs to start over and he is all out of pooka-nuts for the icing. Papa Smurf scolds Snappy, telling him that there is a difference between having fun and just being reckless, and that recklessness causes trouble for everyone...with Greedy adding, "especially me". Snappy joins Papa Smurf, Brainy, and Hefty on their search for a pooka-nut tree out in the forest, which they find the last tree bearing its nuts for the season. Snappy volunteers to climb up the tree and toss the nuts down, with Papa Smurf warning him to be careful. However, out in the forest around this time, Gargamel is telling his cat, Azrael, to keep his ears open and his eyes peeled for the Smurfs, for they could be anywhere. Then they hear the Smurfs nearby, which is Snappy tossing down pooka-nuts to Hefty like it was a game. Brainy tells Snappy to stop doing that because those nuts are for dessert. Gargamel cuts in by saying that the Smurfs are the main course. The three adult Smurfs duck for cover inside a bush when the evil wizard pops out of one, but when he looks for where those Smurfs have disappeared to, Snappy hops out of the tree he's in and hops to the ground off of Gargamel's big nose. He barely gets far when the human wizard grabs him, but soon Papa Smurf and Brainy pelt Gargamel with pooka-nuts until they run out. As Gargamel attempts to give chase to the two Smurfs, Hefty pulls back on a rubbery plant and then lets it go to slap the wizard in the face, knocking Snappy out of his hand. Hefty grabs Snappy and takes him into hiding, saying that his recklessness has almost got him caught that time. Gargamel picks himself up after the Smurfs are gone, cursing them for always getting away. He only wishes that they were always as reckless as "the little one in the tree", which inspires him with the idea of making all the Smurfs reckless. Back in his castle, he finds something in his spellbook about Daredevil Dust, saying that one sprinkle of that powder and the Smurfs will be throwing caution to the wind, a thought that makes both him and his cat laugh in anticipation. Hefty peeks out of the bush and sees that the coast is clear, but Brainy now says that their pooka-nuts are all gone. Papa Smurf says they will have to return to the village without them and tell Greedy. As they return, Brainy scolds Snappy, saying that he should think about the consequences of his actions and looking before he leaps, all the while not looking where he's going. As Snappy pulls Brainy out of a small hole in the ground, they both notice a "weird bird" in the sky, but Brainy sees that it's Gargamel using an Azrael-powered helicopter rotor spraying some kind of dust over the forest. Snappy and Brainy say that they have to warn the others about the dust, but soon they see that it has already fallen on Papa Smurf and Hefty, causing them to act really wild. Hefty is doing bouncing cartwheels, and Papa Smurf is swinging around on vines, saying that danger is now his middle name. Snappy has Brainy follow him back to the village, which is where the other two Smurfs are headed. The Daredevil Dust has already reached the village by the time Snappy and Brainy get there and has affected the rest of the Smurfs. Sassette finds herself no longer interested in chasing small frogs and now wants to chase after big grumpers. Most of the other Smurfs are having the time of their lives doing all sorts of dangerous activities, like sliding down the slope of a Smurf house and launching themselves from a catapult into a bush. This makes Brainy so concerned that he goes immediately to work on finding a cure. Out in the forest, Gargamel runs into two Smurfs carelessly walking and singing the Smurf song and not concerned that their enemy is using their condition in order to capture them. The evil wizard says it's so easy, it makes him wonder why he never thought of doing it sooner. As Snappy tries to catch the Smurfs taking flying lessons with the catapult, Brainy has Papa Smurf interrupting his search for a cure by riding a barrel into the laboratory and then balancing himself on some books while juggling a few others. When Brainy mentions that it's Gargamel behind all this, Papa Smurf feels that it's time to give the evil wizard a piece of his mind. Brainy tries to dissuade Papa Smurf from such a confrontation, but the village leader doesn't care about the consequences. In Gargamel's castle, the evil wizard has the Smurfs he has captured under lock and key, and he owes it all to the Daredevil Dust as he puts the rest of it on a shelf. Then he hears a knocking on his door, which turns out to be Papa Smurf wanting to have a few words with Gargamel. His adversary says he will have all the words he wants, right after he is locked up. But Papa Smurf leaps out of the way before Gargamel gets a hold of him. Back in the village, Smurfette is seen walking the tightrope as Greedy is carrying a pot of pooka-nut icing below. Snappy notices that Greedy hasn't been affected by the Daredevil Dust, and Greedy says he's been in the kitchen all day making pooka-nut icing. Then Smurfette launches herself in the air, and Snappy and Greedy chase after her until she lands right on top of them, splattering the pooka-nut icing. After seeing Smurfette return to her normal behaviors, Snappy realizes that the pooka-nut icing is the antidote -- a fact that Brainy ends up sharing at the very same moment from looking through Papa Smurf's books. Snappy tells Greedy that they're going to need all of his pooka-nuts to restore the affected Smurfs to normal, but Greedy says he's made them all into icing. Snappy then says they'll have to improvise, and so the Smurfs go around the village splattering the affected Smurfs with pies made of pooka-nut icing. In Gargamel's castle, Papa Smurf leads the evil wizard on a wild-goose chase throughout his lair, letting loose the captive Smurfs, but strangely none of them are even trying to escape, as they are having so much fun running Gargamel ragged in his own home. Then the Smurfs from the village arrive with Handy's firefighting invention to hose Papa Smurf and the other Smurfs down with pooka-nut icing, which cures them of their recklessness and causes them to flee to the village. Gargamel trips over a stool and knocks over the rest of the Daredevil Dust on himself, causing him to be so reckless that he creates a massive explosion in his laboratory by mixing up random ingredients for a Smurf-destroying formula. Back in the village, Papa Smurf is glad that all the Smurfs are back safe and sound, but Snappy wonders where Sassette is. Then she shows up with a giant frog on a leash, acting like having such a creature for a pet is normal for her. Papa Smurf says he's very impressed with Sassette's new pet, so impressed that he has something special for her...and then splatters her with a pooka-nut icing pie, which restores her normal behavior and makes her bewildered by what she's doing with a large frog. Snappy offers to take the large frog back where it belongs, but Papa Smurf says he's going to send Hefty along with Snappy as a precaution, which Snappy accepts since he's learned his lesson about being reckless. Just then, Clumsy comes running with the rest of the pooka-nut icing pies, which he splatters on Grouchy and Papa Smurf when he bumps into Snappy. All Grouchy and Papa Smurf could say to that is, "I hate being reckless!"
