In what might best be described as an ongoing battle, the Hunt for the Covenant began on Kothlis a few weeks after the Winnowing left Kishkumen dead on that same world. Over the course of the Winnowing, Ald Sorosel, its chief manipulator, began to have a hunch that a Dark Side group other than the Cult of Shadow had a secretive presence on Kothlis. After making inquiries, he located a traitor Neophyte from the Sith Covenant. Velok and Ori'vod then met with the traitor and learned what they needed to know about the Covenant training base in the Ragnook mountains. They killed the traitor and went to the base, a series of seven caves in a valley that sloped down to the sea.

abstract
  • In what might best be described as an ongoing battle, the Hunt for the Covenant began on Kothlis a few weeks after the Winnowing left Kishkumen dead on that same world. While Velok dispatched the Blackguard headmaster and stunned the students, Ori'vod kept watch. One Neophyte, a Trandoshan named Barkus, made it out of the caves; Ori'vod captured and then recruited him. Meanwhile, the facility secured, Velok used a corporeal Force Phantom to impersonate the dead headmaster and use a secured holotransmitter. The transmitter connected him to Yeurl, whereupon Velok told him that one of the students was advancing at a suspiciously rapid pace, and that he suspected a Cult of Shadow spy. Shortly after, Zaara Archin and her associate Kaleen found the little group and agreed to join in the hunt. Yeurl sent two Blackguards, who were killed by Ori'vod, though not before Zaara used Drain Knowledge to learn of the existence of Darth Kabal. While Velok masked his own Force signature and suppressed Kaleen's and Barkus' presence in the caves, Ori'vod and Zaara met Yeurl on the beach. They fought him but - unknown to him - allowed him to escape, hoping that Darth Kabal would come calling next. In fact, Obscurus himself came, and confronted the group, killing Kaleen and Ori'vod. Velok sacrificed his own right hand to kill Obscurus. The group parted ways. For now, at least, the hunt for the Covenant was over.
