ΩXIII (Omega 13) is the "name" by which humanity knows a quasi-personified "force", appearing most prominently in Random Kingdom X, but ostensibly present in the Random Kingdom universe and even largely determinative of its development. While the force is mostly unseen and described as particles or waves, it is the basis for the visible antagonists. While little about the true nature of Omega has been published yet, materials released introduced multiple possible theories of origin of the being, not all necessarily mutually exclusive:

  • ΩXIII (Omega 13) is the "name" by which humanity knows a quasi-personified "force", appearing most prominently in Random Kingdom X, but ostensibly present in the Random Kingdom universe and even largely determinative of its development. While the force is mostly unseen and described as particles or waves, it is the basis for the visible antagonists. ΩXIII's origins are notoriously obscure; it is said to have "descended upon" the planet "a long time" before the onset of the game inside a "star that fell in a streak of ghostly light", a "space hulk" found upon inspection to consist of millennia-encrused, fused remains of what appeared to be machinery artifacts. Omega's physical body upon arrival was that of a gargantuan amorphous mass of "organic machinery" and "ghostly light". ΩXIII is variously used to describe particles comparable to cells, which compose this stellar "body" and lifeforms altered by it, and particle waves which radiate from the body and every such cell and have an altering effect upon lifeforms. From whence it had come is never stated in any more detail than "beyond" and "outside", but it is cryptically connected with quotes from Christopher Tolkien's Morgoth's Ring, Howard P. Lovecraft's The Color Out Of Space and Terry Pratchett's Eric in the official guidebook. Apparently, it had originally lain "dreaming" inside the star, but even then it slowly altered the world around it. Human scientists undertook to experiment upon it and "tore the veils of the dark chamber of its dreaming". The obscurantist attitude of the writers regarding the origin of ΩXIII, combined with what is revealed about the entity, has naturally led to various speculations regarding its nature. After awakening, a lengthy war followed with the original inhabitants of the world (shown to be comparable to our world - the game refers to the destruction of Tokyo, with modern technology), after which ΩXIII, which could not be destroyed, was checked in its progress and sealed inside its crater, preventing (or, as is later revealed, simply tremendously slowing down) further expansion of the areas that it had "altered". While little about the true nature of Omega has been published yet, materials released introduced multiple possible theories of origin of the being, not all necessarily mutually exclusive: This list refines into two (or arguably, three) "natures" of Omega. Firstly, it could be an advanced form of life to which mankind is eventually destined. Secondly, it could be the remnant of a destroyed extraterrestrial planetary consciousness, seeking a new home. Thirdly, it could be an aggressively expansive extraterrestrial lifeform, aka the Zerg, Tyranids or Jenova. The origin of Omega is inherently linked with the background story to Sophia and Khan. Ω-XIII has the ability to intrude into the morphogenic field of lifeforms (explained as an unconscious memory that determines the form the body takes) and exert influence there, resembling the way in which magic, including fields of "magical background radiation" are described as exerting their mutating influence. Depending on the amount of exposure, the force gradually or suddenly alters the mind and body of those who have come in contact with it, but that process can be controlled to some extent. In this, too, it resembles the influence of a thaumic field, but unlike a "wild" thaumic field's pure chance, which can be harnessed by means of willpower, it exerts upon those in its contact a change in a direction determined by itself. The different powers granted by the mutation can be controlled to greatly increase a person's abilities. This raised an interest in using the force as a factor in the creation of Supersoldiers and it was used in the creation of Augmented, Enhanced and Ascended creatures, although perhaps not all of them. However, control over the mutation slips in situations of bodily or mental stress, leading to accelerated mutation. In case of damage to the body, mutated tissue will quickly grow to replace the lost parts even in case of severe and sometimes fatal injury, rendering the infected more and more inhuman with each wound sustained, and it becomes harder to control the willpower of Omega, resulting ultimately in total loss of control. Because Omega feeds on the lifepower of its victims, mutated forms are much stronger when they grow from strong lifeforms. Those who were infected with Ω cells would fall under telepathic control of the being and would mutate. In the long term, the introduction of the being into the planet's ecosystem modifies evolution, resulting in the birth of monsters and mutants that follow the call of the power to greater or lesser extent. Ultimately, this would include not only individuals, but would have included the entire life of the planet itself. To the end of modifying the ecosystem of Terra to resemble some alien one "the memory of which the meteor seemed to harbour", seems to be the driving force behind the being's arrival. The humans of the world formed a desperate alliance, known as the GDA to fight Ω13, but succeeded only in sealing it off. The battle left a devastated world, populated with monsters and mutants, and seriously reduced human population.
