Darth Bane was a Dark Lord of the Sith, as well as the founder of the Order of the Sith Lords and the creator of the Sith Rule of Two, a document that stated there could be only one Sith master and one Sith apprentice in existence at one time. Some time during his reign as Dark Lord, Bane set up a Sith base in an old Sith academy on Dathomir. It was the duty of all Dark Lords that followed, such as Darth Plagueis, to continue the traditions that Bane created.
