Fray Landing Memorial was introduced in Game Update 1.7 in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game released by BioWare and LucasArts. It serves as an in-universe reference to the early days of player-vs-player combat on the planet Ilum in January 2012, when combat imbalance between the two factions allowed Imperial players were able to repeatedly push all the way into Fray Landing Base, the then-unnamed Republic base, after Game Update 1.1. Republic players were immediately killed by mobs of Imperials upon respawning in the base, necessitating an emergency patch to fix the issue.
