The court consisted of twelve justices, who are nominated by the Supreme Chancellor and confirmed via the "Senate Judiciary Conformation Committee", serve a life term which only expires upon death, resignation, or conviction on impeachment. Like in the Old Republic, the Galactic Court served as a 'court of last resort' and as a determiner of constitutional legality. It was known to follow the concept of double jeopardy, unlike that of the Old Republic's Supreme Court, which could try the same case multiple times.
