Dexter "Chippy" Peeps born Portadown November 17th 1875, died Belfast September 19th 1923, was an Northern Ireland footballer, most famous for his time at Rangers. Peeps grew up during the advent of professional football and so as a young man (aged 19) took the Royal Ulsterman ferry over to Glasgow in an attempt to win a game for Rangers, a team he admired. A fiesty player who was famous for his "chipping" ability, Peeps won a place in the Rangers first team during the 1901/02 season, after a long wait on the bench. He started out his career as a left-half, but soon Willie Wilton moved him to outside-ght so that he could chip the ball over plyers. In the late season of 1906/07, Chippy was transfered to the English team Worsley Wanderers. He died under tragic surcumstances in his house in Belfast, up the Shankhill Rd after an accident involving a light-bulb and his dog. Peeps was 47 years old. He was married to Pamela J. Anderson.
